    Southwest Service Administrators is a Third Party Administrator (TPA) providing unique and specialized administrative services to labor-management Trust Funds (primarily) in the southwest United States with offices in Phoenix, AZ (our corporate service center), Albuquerque, NM and Salt Lake City, UT since 1995.

    Southwest Service Administrators is currently seeking an experienced Pension Analyst.  The focus of this position is to provide customer service for pension participants along with computing and maintaining pension benefits and records by performing the following duties:

    Responsibilities

    • Verify calculation methodology is clearly defined. Create and or review calculations and prepare associated participant paperwork in accordance with plan provisions 
    • Respond to and document telephone, written and walk-in inquiries regarding pension benefits in an efficient prompt and professional manner.
    • Maintain current knowledge of Pension Plans in order to provide correct information to the plan participants.
    • Update Excel spreadsheets and computer databases.
    • Updates files with new information.
    • Maintain production and quality standards.
    • Review pension election forms and supporting documentation
    • Prepare written communications for participants
    • Back up other team members.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Prior experience preferred with Defined Benefit; Defined Contribution Plans; and/or other Taft Hartley Benefit Plans.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple to moderately complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Excellent analytical and mathematical skill set
    • Working knowledge of actuarial concepts and calculation methods
    • Able to read and interpret defined benefit contract language
    • Ability to deal professionally with different types of personalities by phone or in person. 
    • Intermediate skills with Excel and Word.
    • Must have excellent attendance.
    • Strong analytical & research skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to follow through with procedures.
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time operating a computer keyboard.
    • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferable.
